Anticipation for FIFA 18 is growing by the day as EA Sports continue to count down their top 100 players on this year’s game.
Many of those included in the top 100 are usual suspects but there are also a number of new entries too with players rewarded for their performances last season.
The release date for FIFA 18 might still be a few weeks away but here are ten players included in the top 100 that we already looking forward to playing with over the next year.
Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
Key stat: 93 Pace
The sending off against Manchester City aside, Sadio Mane’s career at Liverpool has been a rip-roaring success as he has developed from a promising talent at Southampton into one of the most feared forwards in the Premier League.
Mane’s stats have been given a major hike on FIFA 18 with his pace and shooting attributes bumped up to reflect how devastating he can be on the counter-attack as well as in the opponent’s penalty area and he will be virtually instoppable on the game.
Marco Asensio (Real Madrid)
Key stat: 83 Dribbling
This time last year, Marco Asensio was still a relatively unknown outside of his native Spain as he was just breaking into the Real Madrid squad following a successful loan spell at Espanyol.
Now, though, everyone knows all about Asensio as he has exploded onto the scene over the past 12 months, scoring a number of important (and brilliant) goals for Real Madrid to become a key player under Zinedine Zidane.
His partner in crime for both club and country, Isco, has also seen his stats shoot right up on FIFA 18 as he is now rated 86. Alongside Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos, Real Madrid’s midfield will be unfairly good on FIFA 18.
Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal)
Key stat: 83 Shooting
Given the abundance of ball-playing midfielders in their squad, the creative genius of Mesut Ozil, the ridiculous pace of Theo Walcott out wide and the overall brilliance of Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal were a pretty fun team to play with on FIFA 17.
If there was one thing missing it was an elite striker and that has now been remedied following the signing of Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman has 86 pace, 85 dribbling and 83 shooting and his addition makes the Gunners a formidable attacking unit on FIFA 18.
James Rodriguez (Bayern Munich)
Key stat: 85 Passing
With Bayern Munich’s ageless wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery providing pace out wide and Robert Lewandowski, a virtual guarantee of goals in attack, all that was missing was someone to link attacking moves together.
James Rodriguez does just that on FIFA 18, with his passing, shooting and dribbling stats making him the perfect go-between from Thiago and Arturo Vidal in midfield to the aforementioned trio further up the pitch.
Dries Mertens (Napoli)
Key stat: 90 Pace
There aren’t many teams as fun to watch in Europe right now then Napoli and they have a whole host of exciting players on FIFA 18 with Lorenzo Insigne (85) and Marek Hamsik (87) both being upgraded on this year’s game.
The one Napoli player we are looking forward to playing with on the game the most, though, is Dries Mertens who has officially been changed from a LW to a CF. Mertens is a speedy dribbling demon who can either play up front on his own or just behind Arek Milik.
Romelu Lukaku (Manchester United)
Key stat: 85 Shooting
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is great on FIFA owing to his superhuman strength and aerial prowess but he lacks the acceleration that many FIFA players desire from their striker; fortunately, for Manchester United fans, Romelu Lukaku has that in spades.
Like Ibrahimovic, the Belgian is a physical specimen able to bully the best defenders in the game, but he also has the pace to burst clear of them and the finishing attributes to round off moves.
Not only that if you’re desperate for a goal, stick both of them on and sling crosses in. It might not be a tactic for the purists but you can bet your bottom dollar that it will work brilliantly.
N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)
Key stat: 84 Physical
On FIFA 17 it was a rarity if you came up against an opponent on Ultimate Team who didn’t have N’Golo Kante in central midfield, whether it was his standard gold card or one of the various in-forms the Frenchman received.
This year, prepare yourself to face Kante in virtually every game as the Frenchman is an absolute midfield dynamo on FIFA 18 with his overall rating climbing +6 from the start of last season.
Kante has phenomenal physical stats and is adept at virtually everything else and he should be one of your first-picks when it comes to assembling an all-conquering Ultimate Team.
Christian Eriksen (Tottenham)
Key stat: 88 Passing
Spurs are well-represented in the top 100 players on FIFA 18 with Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris all included following the club’s impressive 2016-17 season.
The best outfield player of the lot, though, is Christian Eriksen who is rewarded for his sensational form in 2017 with a boost of +3 to his overall rating. With 88 passing, the Danish schemer can unlock the very best defences on FIFA 18.
Leonardo Bonucci (AC Milan)
Key stat: 87 Defending
For the first time in ages, Milan will be a highly-sought after team to use on FIFA thanks to their summer spending spree which saw Leonardo Bonucci move from Juventus in one of the summer’s most remarkable deals.
Bonucci is the perfect FIFA central defender as he has the physical qualities to dominate opposition attackers and the technical attributes to initiate passing moves from the back.
Paulo Dybala (Juventus)
Key stat: 91 Dribbling
Thanks to his exploits in the Champions League last season, Paulo Dybala has seen his overall rating shoot up +3 from the start of last season and his position tweaked from ST to CAM.
That move will make him highly-coveted on Ultimate Team, particularly as his stats are sensational across the board. The Argentine has 91 dribbling, 86 pace and 85 shooting and anyone who played with him last year will know he is a demon when it comes to finesse shots.
